LAKE FISHING (Private)
Enjoy fishing and horseback riding in the Beartooth Mountains
Service Description
Spend a day deep in Montana’s backcountry, riding horseback into the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness to fish pristine alpine lakes surrounded by towering peaks and wildflower meadows. This full-day experience is fully customizable—tailored to your pace, interests, and desired level of adventure—making it a perfect escape for anglers of all experience levels. You’ll begin the day at Skyline Guest Ranch between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m., where we’ll load your gear, pack your lunch and drinks, and get everyone matched with their horse. Most rides into the lakes take between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, winding through high mountain trails that offer stunning views around every bend. Once at the lake, you’ll have the full day to cast for trout, explore the shoreline, and relax in the stillness of Montana’s high country. Each guest will receive a hearty sack lunch, which includes a sandwich, homemade cookies, chips, trail mix or nuts, fresh fruit, a wet wipe, and a napkin. You’ll also be able to select drinks from our cooler, stocked with water, Gatorade, and soft drinks. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available upon request. This ride is ideal for anglers looking to experience the solitude and splendor of the Beartooths. We welcome both seasoned fly-fishers and beginners alike—our guides are happy to share tips and instruction if needed. All gear and equipment must be provided by the guest for this experience. All-day trips require a minimum of two participants. After booking, you’ll receive a welcome packet via email with forms for each adult to complete and return. Parents or guardians will be asked to sign on behalf of any minors under 18. If your preferred date isn’t available on our calendar, or if you have questions about trail conditions or fishing options, please call us at (406) 838-2380—we’re always happy to help. All fees include a 4% Montana resort tax. The state of Montana does not charge sales tax.
